At Our Mother of Good Counsel School, parents and guardians are considered the first teachers of their children. As such, they are an integral part of the school community. Parents/guardians are represented through the Parent-Teacher Organization. They serve on various PTO committees and School Boards. A representative from each family is expected to attend at least the first and last PTO meetings of the year.
OMGC parents/guardians are required to complete 30 hours of service.
Minimum 10 service hours toward the annual Festival/Auction.
The remaining 25 hours may be completed in a variety of ways during the school year. Parents/guardians are invited to contribute their talents, ideas and creativity to enhance the school experience of our students. They have served as music leaders, field trip chaperones and site-maintenance workers and are often asked to help with social events and celebrations. Parents/guardians may choose to contribute to the school by working in the office as clerical assistants or in the classroom as aides, providing a service for the school, providing items for school events or room parents. OMGC strives to provide ample opportunities and flexibility for parents/guardians to complete their service hours.
Parents/guardians are invited and encouraged to attend all school events, such as prayer services, school-wide Masses, assemblies, and any special events.
A bi-weekly newsletter is published on Wednesdays, by administration, to inform parents/guardians of school news and upcoming events. The newsletter is posted on the website, but can also be emailed directly to an email address registered to your family. Simply click on "Register for E-News" at the bottom of this page and enter your information.
Parent/Guardian/Student Handbook
All families MUST read and submit a signed statement accepting the policies and procedures outlined in the handbook. It is imperative that we operate as a team with the same expectations for behavior and participation.
