Our Mother of Good Counsel School (OMGC) promotes the growth of faith in Christ, academic excellence, and responsible citizenship. As a small community, together with parents, faculty, and staff, it is our goal to develop these values in each student.
The teachers and staff at OMGC strive to provide our students with a strong educational background, enriched by the development of faith and a strong religious identity.
In order to achieve these goals, the school has clearly outlined what each student must be responsible for by the time of their eighth grade graduation. These guidelines for academic and personal development are listed as Schoolwide Learning Expectations (SLEs). These SLEs have been designed through the collaboration of the staff and school community. They were designed with both the California standards and Archdiocesan guidelines to ensure that all areas of curricular study have been touched upon and acknowledged in our many lessons.
The teachers strive to bring all students to realization of the SLEs, both the students achieving below grade level and those that need to be further challenged. The advancement of their skills in strategies for differentiated instruction is a priority for the staff.
